Zuzanna Edmonds

Originally from Tymbark in Southern Poland, Zuzanna graduated with a Masters Degree at F. Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw where she studied with Prof. Janusz Kucharski and Maria Orzechowska. Subsequently she completed her Postgraduate Studies at the University of Stavanger with Jan Bjoranger.

During her time in Warsaw, Zuzanna enjoyed a diverse freelance career playing with groups such as the New Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonia Iuventus and various chamber ensembles. Zuzanna was a member of the Esmus Quartet, participating in the 2008 festival ‘Movimenti di Quartetti’ competing at the prestigious Premio Paolo Borciani Competition in Reggio Emilia, Italy and a member of Chopin Piano Quintet, finalists of the 2009 International Competition in Lugano, Switzerland. She participated in masterclasses with Christian Altenburger, Tomasz Tomaszewski, Albrecht Breuninger as well as Piotr Reichert, Hatto Beyerle, Marta Gulyas, Ferenc Rados and Avedis Kouyomudijan.

Zuzanna's freelance orchestral career has taken her to Germany, Switzerland, France, Sweden, Iceland, Romania, Greece, Ukraine, South Korea and China. In both 2011 and 2012 she was the recipient to the Special Scholarship Award from the Austrian Cultural Centre in Warsaw. She also took part in a project with JOVEN, Orchestra Nacional de España and in 2013, was appointed concertmaster of 'I, Culture Orchestra'.

Zuzanna joined the Ulster Orchestra in 2015 where, alongside playing in the first violins, she was actively involved with the development of their education program, 'Crescendo’. She has also performed in their chamber music series, ‘On Your Doorstep’, providing chamber music concerts to more remote areas in Northern Ireland. Zuzanna enjoys a freelance career with various orchestras such as the Philharmonia, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Northern Ireland Opera and collaborations with local Northern Irish artists.
