Studio Symphony Orchestra

SSO in the Community

The Orchestra regularly performs Community Concerts, taking live orchestral music to communities which would otherwise never have the opportunity to hear a full size symphony orchestra perform locally.  This is an important part of the work that we do, and to maximise the benefit we like to involve local groups in the concerts.  These have included local choirs and ballet groups, providing a unique opportunity for them to perform with an orchestra.

Over the years the SSO has presented concerts throughout Belfast, with venues including Clonard Monastery, Joanmount Methodist Church, Mount Gilbert Community College, Shankill Leisure Centre, St. Brigid's on the Malone Road, St. Bernadette's at Rosetta, and St. Agnes Parish Hall, Andersonstown. It has also performed in many local towns, including Castlederg, Coleraine, Ballymena, Larne, Enniskillen, Fivemiletown, Lisburn, and Bushmills, as well as Donegal, Dundalk, Cootehill and Dublin.

The orchestra won a BT Innovation Award for its work in bringing live classical music to local communities.
